Hello, I am Anna
Role: project manager. Parent. Expat currently living in Berlin, Germany.
A few years back, I moved here with my family; what began as a short-term assignment gradually evolved into a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Germany wasn't in the master plan. Like many international relocations, it started as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far larger.
The initial months were demanding — fresh systems, new routines, new expectations. Routine tasks seemed more complex than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began to build something that felt steady.
Why I Built Pine Shale Tangent
The majority of online information was either corporate relocation guidance or superficial tourist content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Germany.
What This Site Does (And Doesn’t)
This site DOES INCLUDE:
- Practical knowledge from living in Germany
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site DOESN'T:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our stay in Germany continues, and so does the learning process. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Berlin or anywhere in Germany, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Warm regards,
Anna
